About the Author

About the Author (Claudia Hogan) and Illustrator (Bob Hogan)

Bob and Claudia have been married for more than 37 years and they have lived in the Pacific Northwest for more than 25 years, where they worked and raised a family.  Much like the tortoise from Anacortes, Bob and Claudia longed to be close to the sea, and they moved to Anacortes after some very dear friends mentioned that they wanted to live there too.  As soon as they saw Anacortes and the San Juan Islands, they realized that it was exactly what they had been longing for.

When they are not working, they like to hike, watch movies, go to the theater, and spend time with friends and family. And Bob really loves to paint! Almost as soon as he moved to Anacortes, he not only longed to be near the sea, he longed to paint it too–the spectacular San Juan Islands, the serene Skagit Valley, the plentiful forestlands—so much beauty!  If you’d like to see some of his paintings of this incredibly picturesque area, you can find his work at www.bobhoganart.com .
